Utah Trip Breakdown

I had the BEST trip to Utah! It was funny how many people were extremely concerned with me driving by myself. I appreciated the love and concern, but it got a little old. I am an adult, I am not due any day, and I've made the drive (not by myself before this time) many times... I know the ropes. I figured I'd give you a picture breakdown of my trip!

Roomies at the Baby Shower my mom threw for me

Yummy food (minus the chicken salad sandwiches, they were delicious!

Stephen finished his Diesel Mechanic program and got a bridge scholarship for the summer, so we made him a cake and celebrated!

Helped Eliza with some final projects, and finished this one in true Evans girl style... 1:30AM finish time

Posing while burning the midnight oil

Met and got to love on these little guys! Makes me SO excited/nervous for ours to show up!

Went to Matt's seminary graduation.

I have to say that once you are a mom, you are forever a mom. My mom took such great care of me the entire time I was down there! She threw me the baby shower and served all of the food I picked. She made me LOTS of yummy meals and made sure I was always full. She gave me countless foot rubs, and rubbed the charly horses out of my legs. She made sure I was sent home with all the "American" candy that I can't get in Canada and love (cinnamon bears and starburst jelly beans anyone?) She woke up early to make me breakfast before I left, comforted me when I was sick, cleaned up my breakfast when it didn't agree with my stomach, wiped my tears, stayed with me until the very last second, told me how much she loved me and how proud she is of me. She made sure I was all packed and did more than she will ever know!

I had some great "dates" with my little sisters... I went to the jr. high to work on projects with them, took them for ice-cream, took them to Logan, highlighted Eliza's hair, worked on and passed off Personal Project goals, and so much more!

I spent some great quality time with my grandparents, played some ticket to ride with my family, and we ALL went out to dinner to celebrate Matthew graduating from high school.

To say this trip was wonderful would be an understatement. I loved every second of it! I was grateful when I got to the border and was $500 over my limit and didn't have to pay a cent! I am grateful our Pack N' Play showed up after being ordered at such short notice (little man will sleep in that because we have NO room in our house for his full sized crib). It was fabulous! It was fun to go to lunch with friends, to see some of my roommates, to connect with people I haven't seen in a long time, and just to enjoy myself with NO responsibilities or commitments.

My drivers license also may or may not have expired a week before my trip... and I may or may not have noticed the day after I got to Utah... OOPS!!!!!! Yeah, I was driving illegally the ENTIRE trip! HONEST mistake :P

Birthday Surprise

So Shane send me on a scavenger hunt after waking me up with breakfast and pearl earrings. I have lots of movies, and other fun goodies waiting for me in Utah. I had 7 clues and was sent all around our house to find the slips of paper leading to my next clue. Each clue had pictures of the presents awaiting me in Utah :)

The final clue that I recruited all of you to help me with was...

I spent the day with my mother-in-law at Ikea. I couldn't help but think to myself how blessed I am to have a mother-in-law to come and take care of me on my special day when my mom is so far away and can't. I even found our little guy a crib duvet cover and matching curtains(more to come on those next week).

When Shane got home he bbq'd us some delicious salmon (as per my request) and we had asparagus and watermelon. For dessert, he made me SKORbar cake, which he had woke up at 6 to make (I had NO clue). We finished off the night finishing up watching the final episode of The Amazing Race. It was a wonderful day.

Thank you to everyone who sent me sweet messages. I love you all!

Aarrrghh, Pirates!!!

Ahoy mateys! It's a mutiny!! Lily and I, Captain Shane the Great and Awesome, hijacked the blog! We threw Mindy overboard somewhere near Bedofgre Atcomfort!! Har har har!

Okay, I was going to write like a pirate for the whole blog, but it is kind of overbearing and lame...
Anyway, Happy Birthday to Mindy! Mindy, I love you! Mindy is the best wife in the world (sorry internet, there are probably some second bests and third bests that are pretty good too :) Mindy works so hard to make me happy, so I wanted to make her birthday special with a surprise!

I ordered some stuff for Mindy, but it shipped to her parent's house in the US so she can't see it for her birthday. Instead, so it is still a fun surprise, I made her a treasure hunt! Each clue she finds reveals part of her gift!

The reason for the pirate talk, is that she is going to need your help for the last clue. (Hopefully she comes here last...knowing her she probably checks this when she gets up...she may or may not have told me 'it would be funny if you wrote on our blog for my birthday'...but...I am still being original...because she never expected this!). Love your guts babe! hope you are having fun!
Clue 7:

aaabccdefghij

1PB = 9.00719928 × 10^15 aaas
Paleogene/Jurassic/Silurian/Ediacaran b

Fill in the blank:

g(uppercase) = _hane
h(lowercase = _orlund - Norse 'swordmaker'
i(lowercase) = _akum - leftover from old hemp ropes used as caulking
j(uppercase) = _a - Egyptian 'hawk head'

Mani/ Pedi

Today was a beautiful day! I had some serious mother bird instincts going on, my nesting was at an all time high! I was powering through my house like it was no ones business cleaning every nook and cranny! I got myself all cute and got to spend the afternoon with my mother in law. She picked me up and we went to the Cheesecake Cafe. Heaven.On.Earth I'm tellin' ya. We cut and coloured her hair. The sunshine was streaming through my windows all day, I wore capri's today, it feels so so good!

I thought I was booked for a massage today... turns out my apt is tomorrow. On my way downtown to the appointment I thought I had, I looked to my right to see 3 fat geese walking on the grass. I love springtime, everything coming to life, everything so beautiful and new. I often think of this little boy kicking around in my stomach, how in a few short weeks he will be just like the springtime, so alive, beautiful, and new. I think of how I want my surroundings during his birth. How I look forward to the calm and peace of being in my own home, not being rushed, poked, and prodded. I feel like a queen! Words cannot describe the gratitude I feel.

In other news, it was a miracle I was able to reach my toes to give myself a pedicure... but I think I did a pretty decent job.

Lily on the other hand, wasn't so pleased when it was her turn for a manicure.

but I think the red nails are so feminine, not to mention SAVE our furniture

And guess what was driving me crazy today, so I took matters into my own hands to clean (mask, gloves, and all)?! You'll have to figure that one out, Shane had no problem and knew right off the bat.
